Projects
Sale of a bicycle hire platform

As part of the sale of a globally operating online platform for the hire of bicycles to a competitor, we advised the buyer comprehensively on the preparation and handling of the asset deal. The core issues of the transactions concerned the granting of rights of use to the software solutions that were also sold, the transfer of domains and the assumption of supplier contracts.

Successful joint venture: German start-up in China

We advised a German start-up in the field of sustainable mobility on contract negotiations with a Chinese contractual partner. The client’s product was to be used extensively in major Chinese cities as part of a joint venture. Our advice focussed primarily on corporate and IP law.

Tech-Asset-Deal im Schienennetzinfrastrukturbereich

We advised on the sale of a technology in the field of railway network infrastructure in the form of an asset deal. This primarily involved questions of IP law and software purchase law. This was linked to a subsequent agreement on advisory services by the seller.

The dispute over the labelling of alcohol-free or vegan alternative products is in full swing. According to Art. 9 Para. 1 a) in conjunction with Art. 17 FIR (EU) No. 1169/2011, foods may only be freely labelled if there is no legally prescribed designation for the specific food. This is already the case for spirits or jams, for example. In future, corresponding restrictions could also apply to meat substitutes.

Voice clones by AI in court – dubbing artist wins at Berlin Regional Court

Berlin Regional Court clarifies that the imitation of a celebrity voice generated by artificial intelligence can also infringe personal rights. In the case of German voice actor Manfred Lehmann, the use of his AI-generated voice on YouTube was deemed unlawful and the defendant was ordered to cease and desist and the plaintiff was awarded a licence fee in accordance with the principles of unjust enrichment law.

After the LAG Düsseldorf awarded an applicant damages of EUR 1,000 under Art. 82 GDPR, the eagerly awaited decision of the BAG (judgement of 5 June 2025 - 8 AZR 117/24) is now available. As part of the appeal proceedings, the plaintiff additionally demanded at least EUR 4,000.00 from the GDPR. Furthermore, he sought judicial clarification to the effect that the defendant was liable for all damages - both present and future - resulting from the data protection breach

The European Union (EU) has recognized that an appropriate legal framework is necessary to ensure the responsible use of AI and aims to be a leader in trustworthiness as well as innovation. For this reason, the AI Act has been enacted. The regulation, which has direct effect in the member states, sets clear rules and standards for dealing with AI models, AI systems, and AI content.
