Dr Martin Schirmbacher, partner and specialist solicitor in IT law at HÄRTING Rechtsanwälte, will speak on 14 October 2026 from 2.45 pm to 3.45 pm on the topic “Sharing data rather than protecting it? How the Data Act changes advisory practice”.
For years, the task was to minimise, delete and block data. The Data Act turns this perspective on its head. Data is to flow, be shared and utilised. For data protection consultancy, this could represent a paradigm shift: the very same data that is supposed to be protected is now to be made accessible.
The presentation will outline the requirements set out in the Data Act, where it conflicts with the GDPR, and what concrete changes this will bring to day-to-day consultancy work.
