Sebastian studied in Leipzig, Prague and at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 2012 to 2019 Sebastian was head of the Legal Policy & Data Protection Department at the Federal Association of E-Commerce and Mail Order Germany. (bevh). Prior to this, he was a data protection officer in the German Parliament and worked for an international management consultancy focusing on data security and data protection management. As a certified data protection officer and data protection auditor, Sebastian’s focus is on data protection law mandates. He conducts seminars and leads networks on customer data protection, is author and commentator of the UWG (Act against Unfair Competition), BDSG (Federal Data Protection Act) and GDPR and is a member of the editorial board of the data protection journal Privacy in Germany (PinG). Sebastian joined HÄRTING in November 2019. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer for data protection law in the Best Lawyers Ranking since 2020.
